Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD WILLIAM FAIRCHUK
(WHITE BUFFALO)
It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather and brother, Len Fairchuk. On Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, at the age of 71 years, Len was called to be with his wife Sandra and God, The Creator.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his two sons, Corey (Jenny) and Mark (Amber) and his special daughter Jayme Morningstar, age 9. Len is also survived by his grandchildren, Derrell, Morgan, Jordan and Destiny; two special people, Virginia and Damon; one sister Mary Anne Daniels; his extended family, Nelson (Margaret), Randall, Noel (Colleen), Lynda, Cheryl, Beverly; as well as numerous dear friends he has met along his life’s journey. He was predeceased by his wife Sandra; mother Tinnie; brothers, John and Frank; ∂brother-in-law Hector; mother and father-in-law, Clara and Joe Swain.
Len was born at the St. Boniface General Hospital on June 2, 1932 and raised in Horod, a small western Manitoba community just North of Elphinstone and the Keeseekoowenin Reserve. Len (White Buffalo) was a well known artist and his paintings reflected on the "glorious days of his childhood" and all his work represented a "reflection of his soul." He was an auto mechanic and later a commercial sign artist working in Canada and the United States where his art ability landed him a job working with a major motion picture studio in Hollywood. Len enjoyed sketching, painting, soap stone sculpture, music, song writing and television production. He was best known as the host of "The Western Hour" which ran from 1977 to 1996.
The name “White Buffalo” was given to Len by Chief George Pierre of the Acoma Nation of Washington State, in the city of Los Angeles, CA. Many moons ago, a beautiful Indian maiden appeared before two Indian hunters and asked to be taken to the great Indian Chief. She introduced the Calumet (peace pipe) and urged the chiefs of all Indian Nations to maintain peace and harmony. She then turned into a white buffalo calf and vanished. The White Buffalo has remained sacred among the American Indians. In a speech to the Great White Fathers, Chief Sitting Bull predicted that the White Buffalo would one day return.
A special thank you to all our family and friends for their love and support, as well as to the paramedics, E.R. doctors, nurses and support staff at the Seven Oaks General Hospital.
Len’s funeral service was held on Thursday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m. in Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Dr.
Today the show has come to an end. The Western Hour signs "off" with the familiar
"GOD BLESS AND MAY THE GREAT SPIRIT BE WITH YOU"

I loved his energy and his enthusiasm on The Western Hour. I can still hear his voice which never failed to introduce the next act with excitement, respect and joy for the creation of it! An amazing human. Even 10 years after his passing he is missed and appreciated! - Derek Aasland - Posted by: Derek Aasland (Fan) on: Feb 08, 2014

I will always remember how much both Len & Sandy have brought into our lifes and how much they loved their grandchildren. Sandy use to say how Damon would fit in her purse so she can take him home with her or how she giggled with such pride watching Virginia, Jordan, Morgan & Damon all together. - Posted by: Jessica Fairchuk (Daughter inlaw) on: Dec 01, 2012

Len, dear god, his talents still lurks through the family. But I am proud of him but never known him wel. I always remember him doing all he can for my mother (Jessika) and my brother (Damon), so Damon can get to the hospital. He was kind, I wish I didn't leave. But my father (Corey), I think to this day he is still upset of his father's death. He's stubborn as ever! I miss them. Len used to always try his best to play with us! He always had a smile. He was/is the coolest grandpa eva! - Posted by: morgan fairchuk (grand-daughter) on: Jul 14, 2012
