Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAMUEL INKSTER JR. It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Sam Inkster peacefully in his sleep on April 4, 2004 at the Extendicare Oakview Place. Sam was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1999. He is survived by son Bob (Susan) daughter Mary Anne Flamand (Wayne) grandchildren, Jessica (Blayne Todd) and Matthew Flamand; sister Mary Inkster; and numerous friends and relatives. Dad was born in Winnipeg on August 21, 1918. He attended St. Pauls College where he earned the Governor General Award for academics in 1932. He signed up with the RCAF during the Second World War and served in British Columbia on Queen Charlotte Islands. He met Mom in Vancouver at the Hostess House where she entertained the airmen. They were married in 1944 and moved to Winnipeg in 1945. They lived in Fort Garry the rest of their lives. Dad was a self-employed electrician until he took over from his father as Chief Electrician at the Manitoba Sugar Company in Fort Garry. He worked there until he retired. Dad attended the Reh-Fit Centre for 20 years. He attributed his improved health after his stroke to the workouts that he did there. He made many good friends and looked forward each day to the "coffee table" conversations. Dad spent his last year at The Fort Garry Rotary Villa and greatly enjoyed the people there, and riding around on his shiny red scooter. Dad loved to sing and dance in his earlier years. All his life he never met a dog that he didnt love, or that didnt instantly love him. His sense of humour and warming smile will greatly be missed. The family wishes to extend thanks to the Victoria Hospital and Extendicare Oakview Place for their excellent care. There will be a service on Thursday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations in Sams memory may be made to the charity of their choice. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of condolences at www.chapellawn.mb.ca.

My belated condolences for the passing of your father. My story is that I have in possession a RCAF bracelet I am assuming in your father's name, Sam Inkster. My mother came by it as it was her father's farm at Boundary Bay airport in Ladner where the airforce men came for training. Was wondering if you would like me to send it to you. - Posted by: Lisa Marak () on: Oct 19, 2013
