VALENTINO BREGA (UNCLE TINO) June 29, 1924 - April 9, 2004 Peacefully after a lengthy illness Uncle Tino passed into eternal rest on April 9, 2004 at the Riverview Health Centre. Remaining to cherish his memory are his nephews, Jim Brega (Eleanor), Gerry Brega (Loree), Philip Mandzuk (Judy) and niece Gina Rosen (Craig), many great-nieces and nephews, dear friend Mary Vertone and his two "buddies" who were always there for him, Henry Dellapenta and Sam Gerbasi. Uncle Tino was employed with the City of Winnipeg until his retirement in 1984. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Rosary Church being actively involved with the building of the new church in 1966 to 1967. He served a term as Church Trustee and in 1984 was President of the River-Norquay Social Club. He was also involved as a volunteer at the Villa Cabrini Seniors Residence. Through his illnesses and trials of life Uncle Tino was always very independent and did his suffering in silence to the very end. Whenever asked how he was feeling his answer was always "not too bad". Uncle Tino was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Bruce and Sam; sister Augusta; and brother-in-law Rudy Mandzuk. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit 3E at Riverview Health Centre. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave., with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the Waverley Memorial Gardens 1501 Waverley St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
