HECTOR BEATON Hector Euchere Colin Beaton, aged 95 years, born January 3, 1909 slipped away peacefully in the afternoon on April 5, 2004 after a brief illness. Hec was predeceased by his wife Bernice in September 2001. He will be missed by their daughter Susan and husband Wayne Tole; granddaughters, Kristen and Carla; great-grandson Jacob; sister Rita Pfeffer; nieces and extended family. We wish to thank all the nursing staff at Deer Lodge Centre, HomeCare, HomeCare Nursing and the Department of Veterans Affairs for all their kindness and support. Born in Fort William, ON Hec came to Winnipeg and attended St. Boniface College to complete his education. Returning to Fort William he was employed with CP Rail in the 1930s. He enlisted during the Second World War with the 17th Field Artillery and served in Italy. At the end of the war Hec and Bernice moved to Winnipeg, where he again worked with CP Rail passenger service until his retirement in 1975. Over the years he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. After retirement they relocated to Toronto to enjoy their granddaughters. For many years they were winter Texans, where they made a great many friends. Hec golfed daily which he credited for his good health and longevity. They had a "camp" in Ear Falls, ON, where they spent many enjoyable summers. When Wayne and Susan returned to Winnipeg in 2000 Hec and Bernice came too. They had time to be reunited with Hecs sister Rita. Hecs health began to deteriorate in the last year. He celebrated his 95th birthday in January at St. Boniface Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Boniface for all their help in the celebrations. Memorial service has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6, or Ducks Unlimited, P.O. Box 1160, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0. May Hec and Bernice rest in peace together. KLASSEN Funeral Chapel 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331
