DORIS EDITH SMITH (nee FINGLER) After a lengthy illness Doris passed away on Monday, April 5, 2004 at Riverview Health Centre. She was born in Waldersee, MB on December 22, 1922 and lived most of her life in Norwood and St. Vital. Doris was predeceased by her husband Jack; her parents, Caroline (Rossnagel) and William Fingler. Doris will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her son Terry (Krista) grandson Alan; sisters, Wilma Joss, Bernice Cook, and Jean Bedard; brothers, Harvey (May) Bob (June), and Ron (Maureen ). She was a very special aunt to Ron and Maureens children, Colin (Holly), Janice, Ian (Debra), Brian (Hyoun Jong), and Theresa; great-nieces and nephews, Connor, Patrick, Emma, Elizabeth, and Jessica; and many other beloved nieces and nephews and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. F.N. Crow and all the staff of the Palliative Care unit 3E at Riverview Health Centre who took such loving care of Doris. A special thanks to volunteer Mindy Wilson whose visits Doris enjoyed very much. A sincere thank you from the family to friend Judy Waldmo for her kindness to Doris over the years. Beloved Sister You suffered much in silence Your spirit did not bend You faced your path with courage Right to the very end Our hearts still ache with sadness And many tears do flow For what it meant to lose you No one will ever know Peace be yours, dear Doris Youre no longer hurt nor maimed As in life we loved you In death we do the same At Doris request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 Winakwa Rd. at Autumnwood Drive on Saturday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place on a later date in the Garry Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Palliative Care Unit 3E Riverview Health Centre, #1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB in memory of Doris.
