ELEANOR DIANA DANIELSON Eleanor Diana Danielson of Gimli, in her 97th year, with grace and dignity, passed away on April 7, 2004 at Gimli Hospital with her grandchildren at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Magnus (1973) her loving daughters, Blanche (1996) and Beatrice (1990) and son-in-law Harry Olafson (1971). She survived by her son Roderick (Gisela) son-in-law Harold Einarsson; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Raised on the farm in Okno, MB, Eleanor had a busy and varied life. She married Magnus in 1926; they settled in Arborg and raised three children. She worked along side her husband in the garage business and in later years sold Avon and Rawleighs products from Hecla Island to Vidir, was a census enumerator, and voters list revisionist for areas in the North Central Interlake Region. One of her greatest joys was being a member of the Arborg Community Hall Committee. Moving to Gimli in 1980 Eleanor was actively involved in social activities with the New Horizons Club and spent many happy hours dancing, throwing darts, and carpet bowling. As an avid gardener, Grandma D. loved to share her vegetables and flowers. Living independently until her passing, she enjoyed the company of her family and many friends, who will hold dear the memory of Grandmas tradition of serving tea in her finest china cups. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13 at the Gimli Lutheran Church with Pastor George Johnson officiating. The family would like to express their appreciation to all of Eleanors friends as well as the Home Care and Hospital Staff for their love and support. Honorary Pallbearers will be Benna Martin, Jackie Walker, Gudrun Johansson, Lillian Gudmundson, Peggie Rice and Christel Neermann. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
