ROSE ABELLS SARBIT On April 6, 2004, Rose Abells Sarbit passed from this world in the same manner in which she lived - quietly and peacefully, with dignity and love. At the funeral service on April 9 at the Etz Chayim Congregation, her legacy was reflected in the words of her granddaughters: "Roses are a symbol of friendship, love and peace. They bring cheer and happiness on all occasions. Baba was a rose to everyone she knew, and to us the most special rose we have ever received. She will forever blossom in our memory". Always the adventurer, Rose begins another journey to reconnect with her husband, Sam; her parents, Anna and Samuel; and her brothers, Bill and Hess. The roots of Roses life and love are firmly planted in the souls of her children, Ilana (David), Jay (Gayl) her grandchildren, Emma, Lara (Stephen), Dani (Ross) and her great-grandson Zane Samuel. Branches of Roses family continue to flourish: sister Claire Shindleman; brother Charles Abells; and sisters-in-law, Rachel Abells, Alice Abells and Molly Kowalson; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In accordance with Roses values, contributions in her memory may be made to the Asper Foundation - Canadian Human Rights Museum. Roses fulfillment in life, reflected in the beauty of her smile and the warmth of her embrace, can be summed up in the words of the late Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss): "Ive done what I had to do. Ive lived where I wanted to live. I had love. I had everything".
