At the time of her passing, Nettie was the longest serving member of the churchs choir. In later years, she was active in the seniors group and throughout her life was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Womens League, working at teas and various fund raisers and generally participating in any endeavour touching the life of the church. Nettie worked all her life and still found time for her family and hobbies. She was an avid and prolific gardener, tending a large and productive garden plot till the very end. She was an accomplished cook and was famous in family and church circles for her Ukrainian dishes. Never worrying about herself, Nettie was dedicated to her family, of which she was very proud. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly called her by her nickname "Doodee". She lent an attentive ear and a supportive shoulder to anyone in need.
