SMITH-HISLOP (nee BENNETT) August 11, 1935 - April 6, 2004 It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at her residence. Joan is lovingly remembered by her husband Jack; her children, Kerri (Wayne) Lipischak, their children, Kyle and Wesley, Doug (Donna) Smith, their children, Kaitlyn and John, Brian (Cheryl) Smith, their children, Tyler, Ryan and Jennifer, Sharon (Glenn) Golin, their children, Stephanie, Conrad and Warren; her brother Bill (Grace) Bennett; her stepchildren, Mark (JoAnne) Hislop, their children, Brandi and Jude, David (Roxanne) Hislop, their children, Vanessa, Marlee and Lauren, Tracy (Kevin) Hislop. Mom enjoyed the outdoors, especially spending time at her summer getaway in Pinawa. She really enjoyed fishing, her flowers, feeding the birds and selling her crafts at the Pinawa Craft Sale. In the winter season, she loved to walk in the mall. She cherished her two special feathered friends, Casey and Spooky. The whole family always looked forward to dinner at Grandmas on special occasions because of her amazing meals. She never let anyone go hungry in her household, it just wasnt allowed. Joan was born and raised in Winnipeg, where she spent most of her life, raising her family and watching her grandchildren grow. Prior to her retirement, she enjoyed the time spent working for Versatile Manufacturing. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 12 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint).
