SARAH (SADIE) ELIZABETH JOHNSTON (nee CRAWFORD) July 24, 1906 - April 6, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sarah Elizabeth Johnston, our beloved mother and grandmother at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, on Tuesday, April 6, 2004. Sadie was born July 24, 1906 at Erinview, MB to Frederick and Elizabeth Crawford. Sadie leaves to cherish her memory, her son Fred (Bettie) grandchildren, Jamie, Lisa Karpowicz (Chris) and Melissa; great-grandson Cody; brother Raymond Crawford (Francis) of Stonewall; and sister Eileen Milne (Harold) of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband John; brothers, Bert, Bill, Earl, Eddie, Geordie, Harold and Harry; and sisters, Edna Watt and Gladys Sims. Known as Grandma J to all, her life was centered around her loving family and friends. Sadie delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandson who adored her. She loved to spend many hours together, whether it was countless lunch dates, afternoon coffee and Sunday family dinners. Sadie spent over 25 wonderful years living at Arms of The Cross, seniors residence, where she enjoyed the evening card games. She will be dearly missed by family and many friends. In compliance with Sadies wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Our family would like to thank the staff at Maples Personal Care Home, for their excellent care and compassion during the last year. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Sadies memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Inc.
