(DORIS) DORY KATZ January 9, 1926 - March 21, 2004 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Dory Katz (nee Shafer). Dory leaves her husband of 52 years, Allan and her children, Cheryl, Robyn Cohen and Marty and Joanne Katz; her grandchildren, Jonathan and Alexander Cohen, Oren and Noah Nimelman and Harrison and Brahm Katz; brother Allan Shafer (Lona) and sister Esther Shafer and her extended family and friends. Mom was devoted to our Dad. In the early years of their marriage, our Mom created a welcoming home for family and friends. In the later years, she was a dedicated wife and best friend to our Dad at the Sharon Home for the Aged. Mom lived life to the fullest and had an active, inquisitive mind. She was kind, compassionate and generous. She read, travelled, played bridge and mah jong regularly. Mom was informed about current events and loved motivating speakers, music and theatre. Mom also enjoyed simple pleasures - fresh air, a warm, sunny day and being surrounded by friends and family. Our thanks to her bridge and mah jong buddies and her numerous other friends. You brought our Mom hours of joy. Mom, you taught us the meaning of dignity and self-respect. Thank you, we love you and well miss you. In our mothers memory, donations can be made to the Sharon Home for the Aged.
