OCTAVIA (TAVIA) JOHNSON nee HOFTEIG 1916 - 2004 It is with sadness we announce that on April 10, 2004 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Tavia Johnson passed away with family at her side. Mom was born on March 17, 1916 to Stefan and Margaret Hofteig near Minneota, MN. Mom married our Dad, Oscar Johnson on July 4, 1935. They farmed near Lundar until 1944 at which time they moved to town and became partners in Johnsons General Store. They moved to Winnipeg in 1970 but enjoyed many summers at their cottage at Lundar Beach. Mom is survived by her six children, Len (Joyce) of Teulon, Norman (Carol), Leroy (Karen) of Winnipeg, Margaret (Melvin) Johnson of Calgary, Allen (Valerie), Elaine (Denis) Cyr of Winnipeg; her 15 grandchildren, Donna (Gary) Dandeneau, Wendy (Roman) Pietrus, Douglas (Tammy), Rodney and Ryan, David and Jamie, Paul, Stephen, Kathy (Tryston), Robert (Kerri), Cyndy (Raymond) Geske, Jackie (Norbert) Verrier, Amanda (Dan) Van Achte, Marc Cyr; her 13 great-grandchildren, Sara, Bryan, Benjamin and Michelle Dandeneau, Jordan and Jennifer Pietrus, Jayden and Corbin Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Ryley Barclay, Thomas Johnson, Ryan and Kyle Geske, Cailie Van Achte; her special niece Elaine Charette; her sister Margaret Hattstad; her brother Ferdie; sisters-in-law, Helen Hofteig and Thelma Johnson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband Oscar in July of 1988; parents, Stefan and Margaret; sisters, Sylvia and Louise; brothers, Stephen, Haldor and Bjorn; sisters-in-law, Ragna, Erica and Laura; brothers-in-law, Ted and David. Mom taught us how important family is and all her children, many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were together to celebrate her 88th birthday. While living in Lundar, she was very involved in the community, with both the Ladies Aid Bjork and Ladies Auxiliary. She started curling when curling first came to Lundar and it was a passion she enjoyed until a few years ago. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14 at the Lundar Lutheran Church, with Pastor Nancy Walker officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at the Lundar Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Doug, Ryan, Jamie, Stephen, Robert and Marc and the honorary pallbearers will be the remainder of her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lundar Lutheran Church or charity of your choice. Special thanks to Dr. Chan, and the nursing staff of 4U1 at Seven Oaks Hospital and the staff at Middlechurch Home. Arrangements By: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd Ashern-Lundar 1-204-768-2072
