Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySISTER MADELEINE PICHE Peacefully, after a long stay at the infirmary, Sister Madeleine Piche was called to her Eternal reward at the Grey Nuns Provincial House on Good Friday April 9, 2004, at the age of 93. Born in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan on December 7, 1910, from the union of Amedee Piche and Jeanne Morrissette, she was the seventh in a family of sixteen children. Having entered the noviciate of the Grey Nuns in St. Boniface, Manitoba on February 5, 1933, Sister Madeleine consecrated herself to God in the footsteps of Saint Marguerite dYouville, on August 15, 1935. Sister Madeleine Piches ministry called her to serve as a teacher in Ste. Anne-des-Chenes and as a practical nurse in St. Josephs Hospital in Gravelbourg as well as in Lebret, Saskatchewan. From 1948 to 1954, she was sacristan and assigned to the pharmacy in Regina Grey Nuns Hospital. Later it is at St. Boniface General Hospitals that she continued this same ministry for a period of twenty- two years. Unfortunately, because of her health, she had be admitted to the infirmary of the Provincial House in September 1976. In spite of severe hearing loss, Sister Piche always witnessed gentleness, patience, peacefulness and good humour. She was a person of few words, but had at heart excellence in her ministry. Sister Madeleine leaves to mourn two sisters: Simonne Bourgeois of Gravelbourg, and Germaine Briere from Regina as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A liturgy of the Word will be held on Monday April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grey Nuns Provincial House, l5l Despins Street. The funeral mass will be celebrated at the same place, Tuesday April 13 at 2:30 p.m., by Father Leo Couture. Desjardins Funeral Chapel is in care of arrangements, 233-4949 or toll free at 1-888-233-4949. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.obitbulkloaduariestoday.com
