AUDREY PAULINE WARD On Friday, April 9, 2004 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Audrey Pauline Ward passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years. She is survived by son Bernie (Pat) Ward; daughter Wendy (Grant) Weber and son Dale (Aynsley) Ward; grandchildren, Lorna, Dawn, Susan, Cameron, Jon, Joe, Brendan, Blair, Sheri, Curtis, Craig, Colin and Jason; great-grandchildren, Tannis, Damon, Jamie-Lee, Joey and Katelyn; one brother Albert in Comox, BC. Audrey was predeceased by her loving husband Joe in 1995; infant son Ralph in 1940; as well as her eldest daughter Glenna in May of 2003. Mom was born in Selkirk, MB on June 9, 1920. During the war years, while Dad was in basic training, Mom spent some time living in Toronto. When Dad went overseas, with the help of her very special "Auntie Lou", she moved to Winnipeg. After the war they established a home in the North End where together they raised their family and made many lifelong friendships. Mom had an incredibly large circle of friends and made sure that she always kept in touch with everyone. She was truly a people person and worked for many years in retail as a sales clerk with department stores like Eatons, Topps, Clarks & Gambles, retiring in the seventies. Since Dads passing in 1995, Mom found great pleasure in the unique community of very special friends she made at The Hedges, especially her regular gatherings of the "Golden Girls" for cards and occasional outings to the Casino. She was also a very proud and long time member of the ladies auxiliary of the Sir Sam Steele legion. The true joy of her life was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all loving called her their "Nana". Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. The service will conclude at the Chapels. In lieu of flowers, donations in Moms memory may be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the emergency ward at Seven Oaks Hospital for their wonderful care. "Mom" You can only have one mother, Loving, kind and true No other friend in all the world Will be so true to you For all her love and kindness She asked nothing in return If all the world deserted us To our Mother we could turn For those of you who have a Mother Treasure her with care For you will never know her value Til you see she is not there To hear her voice to see her smile To sit and talk with her awhile To be together in the same old way Would be our dearest wish today.
