Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANITA MOLLY KEIVES December 24, 1923 - April 10, 2004 Anita Molly Keives passed away on April 10, 2004 at Health Sciences Centre, with her family by her side, at the age of 77 years. Anita, daughter of Max and Pepi Feuer, grew up on farm in the former Jewish Colony on Sonnenfeld, a Hoffer, in southern Saskatchewan. She attended a county road called Draveland. In 1946 Anita was united in marriage to George Keives. They established their own home and started farming. Their home, the last Jewish home in the district, stille exists today. In 1963 Anita and George bought an off season residence in Garden City. They spend their winters in Winnipeg, and the balance of the year on the farm. After retirement, they continued to live at their farm home from spring until late summer. Anita was a quiet, warm hearted woman. She never pushed, she never shoved, she seldom raised her voice. Anitas greatest love was her home, her children and her grandchildren. She loved to visit her friends and go to the Gwen Sector Club where she met many new friends. Anita loved to knit, embroider and croquet. Many a home has an afghan that was made by her. She loved the open air, the lifestyle she led as a grain farmer, and to garden. Many times you could find her sitting in her garden, as if watching her plants grow. She brought meals to the field and was known to make a round or two on the tractor. She could drive a grain truck and when needed she would lend a helping had to shovel grain to load a truck for market. Anita and George travelled extensively. After retiring they bought a motor home and made many happy trips coast to coast throughout Canada and United States. They travelled the Alaska Highway and made their annual trip to their favourite winter spot, Palm Springs, CA. Predeceased by her son, Lorne Allen. She leaves to mourn her husband of 57 years, George; Sons, Garry (Kim) Kieves, Rick (Cyndy) Keives; daughter Norma Ruth (Steve) Manuel; granddaughters, Nico and Nina; grandsons, Andrew and Jeremy; as well as brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service were held Wednesday, April 14 at Chesed Shel Emes Chapel, with interment at the Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park. Pallbearers were her sons, Garry and Rick Keives, Philip Kives, Allen Elfenbein, Charles Feuer and Jeff Feuer. Rest in peace our love. You fought a long and gallant battle against unformidable odds.
