Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAKOB (JACK) SIKORA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Jack Sikora on April 10, 2004 at Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 82. Jack is survived by his daughters, Teresa (Chris) and Dana (Randy) son Walter (Nina) granddaughter Jacqueline; grandsons, Alexander and Mark; sisters, Barbara, Mary and Zosia; and numerous nieces and nephews. His wife Mary predeceased him in 1992. Jack was born in Tarnopol, Poland on March 22, 1922. His family was taken to Siberia during the Second World War, where Jack learned of the raising of the allied Polish Army. He made his way to the south of Russia, where he enlisted. He served his country honourably during the war throughout portions of Europe and the Middle East, including the Battle of Monte Casino in Italy. In the late 1940s he arrived in Canada where he met his future wife Mary. Jack worked as a shipper/receiver at Ray-O-Vac in Winnipeg for many years before purchasing and operating a hardware store in Fort Garry. He was deeply committed to and involved in the Polish community in Winnipeg and made many friends. His name was synonymous with Club 13 and SPK Polish Combatants Association. A true gentleman, Jack was always a very giving and honest man who would give much of himself to assist persons or a cause. Never did a holiday or birthday pass that Jack would not send a special gift to his loving grandchildren. His family has always been an integral focal point in his life. Jack will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Jacks family wishes to thank everyone for their support, in particular the Milejszo family, Barbara, Anessa (Maize), Diane, the late Witold, Andrew and Margaret who provided loving care to Jack over many years.
