LAURA FERN (GREEN) DEWART With a blend of profound sadness, yet a celebration of a life lived well, we announce the death of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Laura Fern Dewart on April 10, 2004. Laura will be greatly missed by her three children, Ruth (Don) Barr of Glenboro and their children, Darrell, Eddie (Allison), Charlene (Davin), great-grandchild Asia; Crystal (Cory) further by Dorothy (Brian) Granger of Rounthwaite and their children, Don, Craig (Melanie) and Allison; and her son Jim (Claudette Closson) Dewart of Saint-Pierre-Jolys, MB. Her sister Donna Wright of British Columbia and her sister-in-law Ivy Green in England survive Laura. She was predeceased by her parents Percy and Alice Green of Wawanesa; her husband Bill of Stockton; a grandchild Sherri-Lee Barr; her brother Guy Green; her sister Berna Rogers; and brothers-in-law, Bub Rogers and Jack Wright. Laura was born in the Wawanesa district on September 30, 1920. She married Bill Dewart on her birthday in 1942 and moved to the Dewart family homestead "The Lone Oak Farm" in the Millford-Stockton district. After suffering a debilitating aneurysm in 1949, Lauras life was filled with many challenges, which were always met with an independent spirit. With the devotion of her lifelong husband Bill, she ran a household and raised three young children with steadfast determination and without todays conveniences of electric stoves, running water and automatic washers. Many treasured memories serve as testimony to her adaptive nature - Laura could hang clothes on the line, open jars and tie shoelaces with one hand without batting an eye! After Dads death in 1985, Mum lived independently in Stockton and moved to Glen Haven Manor where she resided for 16 years. Mums recent life was enjoying her crokinole and marble games at the Glen Haven Manor. Friendships with Henry, Mary Jane, Ken and others from the community were much appreciated. Visits from people in the community were cherished moments. Mother loved the family gatherings and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchild who always returned her affection many folds. The "Oh, for gosh sakes!" and hearty laughs were numerous. Lauras interment will take place at the Millford Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14. Following, at 2:30 in the afternoon, Lauras family invites the public to attend a "Celebration of Remembrance" at the Willmor Chapel in Glenboro, MB. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Lauras behalf to the Glenboro Handivan Service or the Millford Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Jamiesons Funeral Service, 204-827-2480.
