Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERA HRABCHAK Peacefully on April 13, 2004 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Vera passed away with her family by her side. She leaves to mourn, her beloved husband of 40 years Arnold; son Ken and daughter-in-law Marnie; her precious grandchildren, Jennifer and Connor; sisters, Rose Kowaluk, Marie (Mike) Rebalkin, Lu Neiles, Rae Harvey, Valerie (Glen) Turner; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She is predeceased by her infant brother Walter (1939) and her parents, Olga and Maxym Kowaluk. Vera was born on October 4, 1935 in Arran, SK. She trained in Winnipeg for her L.P.N. nursing degree. She worked at various hospitals, ending her career with 23 years at Heritage Lodge, retiring in 1997. Vera enjoyed many things in her life. Most recently her greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren. Baba was a great source of fun and comfort for Jennifer and Connor. She will be sadly missed. Vera spent her time reading novels, knitting blankets, playing cards, making crafts, shopping, cheering on all her favourite sports teams, and hosting happy hour. The past seven winters have been spent in Mesa, AZ where the friendships Vera made were very special to her. For the past 23 years, Arnold and Vera have spent their summer weekends in their RV trailer at Stonewall Quarry Park. Many fellow campers have indulged on Veras warm smile and her generous hospitality. My lips cannot tell how much I miss her, My heart cannot tell what to say, God alone knows how I miss her In a home that is lonesome today. We love you ... TOO MUCH! We would like to thank the staff of the Observation Unit and the 5th Floor of the Grace General Hospital for the care Vera received. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. A memorial service will take place on Friday, April 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Rev. Tony Maunder will be presiding.
