WILLIAM KENNETH LONEY After a long illness, William Kenneth "Bill" Loney passed away peacefully on April 12, 2004. Born to Ethel and Linton Loney in Sudbury, ON on January 19, 1924, Bill was the youngest of five children. He served briefly in the Second World War in the Canadian Air Force after beginning his career at the Toronto Dominion Bank. While working for the bank, he met the love of his life and future wife Marion Graveson in Thunder Bay, ON. Bill and Marion married in 1952, and for the next 52 years they more than lived out the wedding vows they exchanged on July 5, 1952. As a bank manager for the Toronto Dominion Bank, Bill was transferred throughout Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, living in Thunder Bay, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, and (for the past 30 years) in Winnipeg. He was also an active member of every community he and his family lived in, involving himself in Kiwanis, the Rotary Club, the Rossmere Golf and Country Club, and the Anglican Church. Predeceased by brothers, Ernie and Alan and his beloved infant daughter Patricia Ann Loney; Bill is survived by his wife Marion; sons, James Richard Loney of New York City and Dr. Robert William Loney; daughter-in-law Elaine Loney and grandson Stephen William Loney, all of Halifax and sisters, Ina and Eileen. Always optimistic, Bill will be remembered by his many friends and family for his sunny demeanour, his love of life and music, and his devotion to his wife Marion and his family. Special thanks to Dr. Janice Mulder; Myrna Brownlee, RN; Dr. Marianne Krahn; CancerCare Manitoba; the staff and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital; and to the wonderful staff at the Grace Hospice for making Bills last days comfortable and peaceful. DAD WE LOVE YOU AND WILL MISS YOU A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, April 15 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. Donations in lieu of flowers please to the Grace Hospice 260 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3R5 or the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg.
