LEORA DELORIS WITT (nee BARNLUND) Peacefully on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 Leora Deloris Witt, aged 90 years, passed away at Beacon Hill Lodge to join the love of her life, Arthur Raymond, who predeceased her in 2001. Left to treasure a lifetime of memories are her daughters, Verla (Owen) of Sechelt, BC and Gaylene (Billie) of Winnipeg; and son Duane (Carol) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Brent (Annette) of Egmont, BC, Michelle of Angus, ON, Rena (Patrick) of Petawawa, ON, Jamie (Naomi) and Terry of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Quinn, Kane, Zara, Vanja and Sophia; sister-in-law Anne Barnlund; and many nieces and nephews. Leora was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Ada; her sister Lillian; brothers, Russell and Clarence; and half sisters, Burna, Louella and Elvera. Born in Sanford, MB on March 18, 1914, Leora completed her schooling and found a job in Pine Falls and, after a few short months, the love of her life. After marrying Art on December 5, 1936, they made their life and home in Pine Falls. Leora was noted in her early years of marriage as an immaculate housekeeper and wonderful homemaker. She and Dad loved to entertain and anyone was made welcome to stay, whether it be for supper or a night. Once kids came along the immaculate housekeeper seemed unimportant and one could find her buried amongst piles of recipes or sewing doll clothes, Halloween outfits, skating or recital costumes. Leora was always noted as a good cook but found her hobby and expertise in making candy which earned her the pet name of "Leora Secord". She was an active member for 35 years and earned the lifetime membership of the Pine Falls Ladies Hospital Auxiliary. She was also an active and long standing member of the United Church Women. Giving up her home in Pine Falls in 2001 was very hard but necessary. Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg became her home over her last years. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude for the compassionate, loving and dignified care given to Mom, especially in the last few months. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 19 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. A family interment of both Mom and Dad will take place the following day at the Sanford Cemetery. She will once again be reunited with her love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Thank you for being such a wonderful, caring and loving Mom (Grandmother). We will all treasure the memories. May you rest in peace with Dad. We love you both and will miss you both very much. May God keep you. Bardal Funeral Home & Crematorium 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Ample Parking Behind Funeral Home Condolences: www.bardalfuneralhome.com
