Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIN LOVING MEMORY OF FREDERICK JAMES COCHRANE (FREDDIE) It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle who left us peacefully on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 to be with the Lord our Saviour. Freddie was united in marriage to his first wife Heather M. Cochrane whom he had six wonderful children, Alfred (Jessie), Christine (Elmer), Cherryl (Harland), Gerald (Trina), Eric (Margo), Annette (Garfield). Freddie also leaves to mourn his second wife Sharon M. Cochrane; special granddaughter Jessica (Cory) 24 grandchildren and special nieces, Linda Leggett and Vera Mitchell; sister Nora Berens (Roderick) brothers-in-law, Thomas, Dulus, Chester, Alvin, Ronald, Leroy, Franklin, Sandy, Eli, Samuel, Colin and Roland; sisters-in-law, Bella, Christina, Jessie, Yvonne, Martha, Shirley, Sandra, Rosalie, Eileen, Rozina, Ethel and Bertha. Freddie was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Sarah Jane Cochrane; first wife Heather and son Hank and brother Alfred; two sisters, Violet and Fanny. Freddie was a commercial fisherman for over 40 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, teaching them about the outdoors and basic survival skills. He was also a hunter and a trapper and always made sure that his wife and children were well provided for. He played guitar and often sang to his grandchildren and made them laugh and dance. His favourite singer was Hank Williams Sr. He would also provide transportation by boat to neighbouring communities for church. Freddie will be remembered for his kindness, fun loving and caring for everyone. His outlook in life was always positive and he believed in the best for all. Many thanks to the staff at Health Sciences Centre, MICU and to the Berens River First Nation, Chemawawin Cree Nation and Poplar River First Nation for their kindness. Prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave. Wake services will be held Friday, April 16, Saturday, April 17, and Sunday April 18 in Berens River, MB at the Point. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, April 19 at the House of Prayer in Berens River, MB, with Rev. Oliver Everett officiating. Interment will follow in Berens River Cemetery.
