MABEL KAATZ Peacefully, in her home at East Gate Lodge with her loving sister Gladys by her side Mabel Kaatz (nee Thomas) quietly passed into the care of her loving Lord and Saviour whom she served faithfully to the end singing and ministering to family, friends and caregivers. Mabel was born on May 5th, 1910 at Stony Point, MB. She married Edward Kaatz on November 14, 1939. Mabel was a gentle loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was an accomplished cook and she and Edd were the owners of their own Convenience Store in Burnaby, BC where Mabel was the local Postmistress. On retirement, she and her husband Edd travelled extensively in Canada, the US and New Zealand before settling in Victoria Beach, MB. In her final years Mabel was inflicted with Alzheimers. She was a very Special Lady, she loved all of her caregivers and we her family thank you all for the loving patient care she received from you while at East Gate Lodge. Mabel was predeceased by husband Edd; her parents, Henry George Thomas and Mary Ann (Anderson) brothers and sisters, Norman (Agnes and Ruby), Reuben (Beatrice), Emily (Albert, Henry and Gordon), Phyllis, Florence (Felix), Dorothy (Tom), Mildred (Alex), Gerald (Dolly). She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Ruth (Glyn Thomas) sons, Reuben (Doris) and Wayne; grandchildren, Glynda Thomas, Glyn Thomas, Allen Kaatz (Diane), Christine (Brian Watson) great-grandchildren, Jade, Renea, Dustin, Carly and Haley. Mabel will be sadly missed by brothers, Gordon (Louise), John (Ann) and sister Gladys (Garf Monkman) brothers and sisters-in-law, Martha, Al (Betty), Leon (Joan), Wilfred, Lori (Ian), Georgiana (Clarence), Evelyn, Alma (John), Harold (Ellen) numerous loved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Mabels life will be held on Thursday April 22, at the Wayside Gospel Chapel, in Grand Marais, MB. Viewing will be from 1:15 to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Ron Hampton officiating, assisted by Bud Monkman and John Thomas. Interment will follow at the Victoria Beach Cemetery. A Luncheon will be held at the Victoria Beach Senior Scene, 3 Ateah Road. Please, come and join us. Active Pallbearers will be Ralph Thomas, Ted Thomas, Edwin Smith, Jim Paulson, Ernie Monkman, Gordon Thomas and Jerry Paulson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nelson Hastman and Alex Cross. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Bible Camp at 1881 Portage Ave., P.O. Box 42059 Winnipeg. MB R3J 3X7. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB in care of arrangements.
