Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES DONALD STUART GRANGER (STU) It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Stuart Granger at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, on Wednesday, March 24, 2004. He is survived by his wife Diane; son Darren (Cathy), their children, Sadie and Chase; and daughter Debbie Singfat (Gerry) step-children, Cathy Grain (Rob Boyd) Robert Grain (Teresa) and their children, Derek and Mark; mother Maimie Granger; and sister Barb Riddell (Tom) and their children, Craig (Colleen), Kyla (Scott Corbett). Stuart was predeceased by his father Charles Granger. Stuart (Stu) was born on April 3, 1942 to Charles and Maimie Granger in Rounthwaite, MB. In 1950, at the age of eight, he moved with his family to Warren, MB, where he finished his high school. He tried several different occupations and lived in several small towns in Manitoba, including Thompson, Churchill, Deloraine and Erickson. In 1967, he married Lavina Holmberg and they moved back to Brandon. They had two children, Darren and Debbie. Stuart was a big supporter of Brandon, but his heart remained in the Brandon Hills, where he loved to help his cousins on the farm, pick berries and hunt for crocuses in the spring. He joined the City of Brandon Transit Department in 1987. He really enjoyed all the people he met while driving and the camaraderie of the other drivers. Stuart was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed coaching Debbies soccer and baseball teams and Darrens baseball and hockey. He made many lasting friendships and had many fond memories of travelling with Darrens hockey team through many hockey seasons. He was involved with the Canada Winter Games in 1980, and the Canada Summer Games in 1997 and supported any cause that encouraged youth to be involved with sports. In 1998, Stuart married his high school sweetheart Diane (Squair). Together, they shared very happy and wonderful times with friends and family. Stu was a very warm, loving and caring man who gave generously of himself and his time. He truly enjoyed all people, animals and most especially children. He was happiest when there was a gathering of family and/or friends. He loved to share a joke and a laugh. He made tubs of the best mincemeat ever, roasters of trail mix and nuts and bolts. These, along with his well-known wine from his wine cellar, were generously given to friends and family. A memorial service to celebrate Stus life was held at Central United Church in Brandon, on Sunday, March 28 with Mona Franklin officiating. Interment was in the Rounthwaite Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7 or to the Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation, Unit 3-824-18th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 5B7. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com. Arrangements were in care of Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, Brandon.
