Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD SIDNEY JENSEN October 7, 1914 - April 15, 2004 With great sadness our family announces that Dick passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the age of 89 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Victoria of Portage la Prairie and his family, daughter Barbara (John) Knott of Portage la Prairie and grandchildren, Mike (Erin) Knott of Devon, AB along with great-grandchildren, Aidan and Becca and granddaughter Jacki Knott (Chris Shay) of Portage la Prairie; daughter Susan (Dave) Wilkinson of Selkirk along with grandchildren, Steve (fiance Carrie Arnold), Tom and Rachel also of Selkirk; son Peter of Portage la Prairie; son David (Lyn) Jensen of Carberry along with grandchildren, Raelyn and Bradly also of Carberry; and son Rick of Portage la Prairie. He will also be missed by nephew John (Penny) Jensen of Trenton, ON and Diane Jensen of Saskatoon, SK as well as other extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter Jensen (1952) and Ragnhild (Rachel) Jensen (1963) and brothers, Albert (1961), Norman (1965) sister-in-law Jean Jensen (1998) and sister Thelma Jensen (2001). Dick was born in Outlook, SK. After completing school, Dick spent some time farming, and later worked as a journeyman mechanic. He served in the Canadian Air Force as an aviation mechanic overseas during The Second World War. After returning to Canada he worked for several years for Poole. While doing so, he met Vicki (Hrechka) when she worked at the Peesane Store. They were married April 10, 1950. For several years they farmed in Saskatchewan and Dick worked as a mechanic. Dick and Vicki and family moved to Portage in 1966. For many years Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing and he especially enjoyed their many years and friends at Delta Beach. Dick was an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider fan and also enjoyed Blue Jays baseball games. He was a member of the A.N.A.F. Branch No. 13 of Portage and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 65. A memorial service to celebrate Dicks life will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, April 20 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ray Willms officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. The family would prefer donations be made to Westpark School, Box 91, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3B2. We want to thank Dr. Antonissen and Dave Taylor and the rest of the home care nursing staff, Kim, Karen, Debbie, Chris and especially Judy Samels, for the wonderful care they provided over the past year. We would also like to thank the staff of Westpark School and the congregation at Portage Alliance Church for their love, prayers and support.
