OLIVE DZIADEKWICH On April 15, 2004, at home, Olive Dziadekwich, dearly beloved mother and Baba passed away at the age of 76 years. She is survived by her devoted children, daughter Marlene (Charles) Darazsi, and son Robert (Rose), grandsons Christopher (Karen) and Michael Darazsi and Babas Angels, Randelle and Rochelle Dziadekwich. She leaves to mourn her passing brothers Mike (Edith) and Jerry of Winnipeg, John of Vancouver, B.C., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Mike in 1988. Olive was born to Stephan and Tekla Slobodian on November 25, 1927 in Gladstone, MB and spent her early years there. She married Mike Dziadekwich on June 23, 1945 and, as a homemaker raised her family on Alexander Avenue, before moving to Kildonan Manor in 2000. Here she met many new friends, especially Irene and Justine, who provided her with friendship and support. Her days were often filled with cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, gardening and tending to her flowers. Although she suffered significant health problems over the years, she continued to be a cheerful and happy person, and when asked how she felt, always responded with Im fine, really. Olive was a kind, supportive and loving wife, mother and Baba, and was very proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy came from family gatherings, visits from her children and grandchildren, dinners out and activities such as bingo and casino visits. She looked forward to phone calls from the grand kids, hearing about their schoolwork, sports, music, dance recitals and whatever else they cared to share with her. Her door was always open and she was ready and willing to lend an ear, provide words of support and encouragement, give you one of her big hugs, or offer her wonderful baking or cooking to take home. Our Baba and mother was a selfless and caring person, who put everyones needs before her own. Although our hearts break to think that she is gone, we know she has reunited with her Mike in heaven, and that she has left us with wonderful memories. We will miss her, but know that she is in a better place, free of illness and pain. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the WRHA Palliative Care Program for their ongoing support and assistance, especially to nurse Ann Ediger who has been a godsend to Baba over the last few months. Good Bye our dear Baba, Rest in Peace. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with Deacon Frank Conway officiating. Cremation has taken place, and interment will follow at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Olives memory to CancerCare Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
