GERARD LAURIN March 10, 1923 - April 17, 2004 Peacefully on Saturday, April 17, 2004, Gerard Laurin passed away at Ste. Anne Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 58 years of marriage Emilia; his six children, Lucille (Gilbert), Lionel, Fleurette (Dave), Claire, Louise (Don) and Noel (Rachelle) his 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish two sisters, Yvonne and Laura. Gerard will be deeply missed by his granddaughter (daughter) Debbie (Dino). He was predeceased by his father (Adelard) mother (Maria) four brothers, Eugene, Arthur, Emile, Joe; and one daughter Lucille. Gerard was born on March 10, 1923 in Richer, MB and lived most of his life in the area. During the course of his lifetime he worked hard at providing for his wife and family. Dad was also known for his skill in wood working and craftsmanship. He was self employed until his retirement. Gerard was very close to his wife (Mia) Emilia. They enjoyed spending time going on their car rides to their favourite pie and coffee place and would return home for a game of crib. Emilia was a big part of his life - she will truly miss him. The children would like to mention their fondest memories of their dear father. Going back from camping days, Dad would always take time out of his busy schedule to share in family gatherings or socializing with friends. Our father had a strong will to succeed in life and we knew his priorities were to provide for his family. He had a unique way of showing us he loved us. Dad was Dad and we loved him dearly. Emilia and her children would like to thank the nurses and Dr. Gobeil at the St. Anne Hospital for all their compassion and love, caring and respect. We also would like to thank labbe Rene Chartier, Soeur Rioux and Soeur Forest for all their support and prayers. Special thanks to Soeur Rioux for the kindness she showed to our father during his illness. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. at the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church on Friday, April 23. Interment to follow in the Ste. Anne Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6.
