GRACE LEVINS On April 17, 2004 at Oakview Nursing Home, Miss Grace Ellen Levins of Winnipeg passed away. Grace was predeceased by her father in 1981 and her mother in 1986. She is survived by numerous cousins across Canada. Born in Lenore, MB on June 21, 1925, the daughter of Thomas and Annie (Frame) Levins. She moved with her parents to Hamiota where she took all her schooling (grades 1-12). In 1943 she came to Winnipeg where she attended The Angus School of Commerce and worked at National Trust. Later she took a course to become an EEG technician at the Winnipeg General Hospital where she worked for many years. Grace was interested in music all her life. She played violin while at Hamiota and at one time was the youngest student to play in the Manitoba High Schools Symphony Orchestra under Ron Gibson in Winnipeg. When she lived in Winnipeg she took vocal training from J. Roberto Wood and sang in several choirs- Knox United Church Choir, the Philharmonic Choir under the direction of Walter Kaufmann, Young Womens Music Club under the direction of Berith Berse and Salvation Army Songsters where she often sang solo at Grace Hospital Chapel. Her friends will remember her for her witty, entertaining stories. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 23 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 4000 Portage Ave. with Pastor Bruce Logan officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Calvary Temple Youth Camp, 400 Hargrave St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 3A8.
