Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHERESIA HODAB Peacefully and surrounded by love, Theresia Hodab, 93, passed away at St. Josephs Residence on Sunday, April 18, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Stefan, in 1989 after 61 years of marriage and great-grandson Dex, on October 12, 2003. She will be missed by her three children, Simon (Cilli), Johanna (Rudy) and Kate (Don) six grandchildren, Tina (Mac), Ralph (Lorie), Belinda, Dana (David), Laura (Paul) and Lisa. She was a beloved Omi to three great-grandchildren, Emily, Elsbeth and Isabel. Theresia was born in Croatia on April 12, 1911. In 1944, with her immediate family, she fled from war-torn Yugoslavia and settled in Austria. In 1957, she made her home in Canada. Although she had lost everything in the war, she never lost her faith. Her enduring love for her family and faith in God are examples of how one can overcome any obstacle or hardship. Theresia was a long time member of St. Josephs Parish, the Golden Age Club and the Catholic Womens League. Oma was a positive person with a bright mind. She valued learning, whether it was a adopting a new language or embracing another culture. She taught us the importance of family and community and how to live life to the fullest. She often expressed pride in her family, including on the day she died. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed various handicrafts, cards and reading. While at St. Josephs Residence she loved all the activities and outings and appreciated the wonderful care provided by the friendly and compassionate staff and volunteers. She lived at St. Josephs Residence for 16 months. Viewing will be held prior to Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, corner of Mountain Avenue and Andrews Street, with Fr. Diosdado Parrenas officiating. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresias memory to the Recreation Department at St. Josephs Residence, 1149 Leila Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2P 1S6.
