MAIR (MYRA) ALETHEA RUSSELL (nee JONES) After a lengthy illness, Myra Russell passed away at the age of 83 at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. Myra is survived by her son Wayne (Florence) and her three granddaughters, Renay and Nicole Russell, Leanne Lavalley and two grandsons, Richard and Brian Lavalley; two great-grandchildren, Steph and Ryan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Myra Russell was born December 23, 1920 in Beaufort, Ebbw Vale in the county of Monmouth in South Wales. She immigrated to Canada with her parents, Stanley and Margaret Jones as well as brothers, Emrys (Dave) and Elwyn; sisters, Gwynneth, Dilys and Joan arriving in Winnipeg in 1929. She grew up in Morse Place, eventually marrying Wilfred Russell of East Kildonan on September 14, 1940 and having two children in Wayne and Beth. She was predeceased by her husband and daughter as well as all her siblings. Myra loved her family and friends. She had a real affection for dancing and singing. She loved to laugh and traveled widely to Europe and Hawaii as well as different Canadian and American locations. Her time at Caddy Lake was precious to her. She spent many years as a saleslady in Eatons on Portage Avenue in the mens department. We would like to thank the staff at Donwood Manor for the wonderful care. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Donwood Manor Chapel, 171 Donwood Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntington Society, 151 Frederick St., Suite 400, Kitchener, ON N2H 2M2.
