Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHIA DUBCHAK (nee SZKARAPITA) January 23, 1913 - April 21, 2004 Peacefully on Wednesday, April 21, 2004, with her daughter Dorothy by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Ann Skoropeta; husband Anton (1963) grandson Terrance Dubchak (1987) daughters, Ann Thompson (1991) and Nettie Pomeranski (1992) son Peter (1999) brothers, Nick, Bill and Peter; sisters, Olga and Mary; sister-in-law Rose and brother-in-laws, Ben Zarzobek and Bill Tomyk. Treasuring her memory is her son Michael (Marie) of Komarno; and daughter Dorothy Munroe of Winnipeg; sister Nellie (Don) Johnson of Moosimin, SK; brother Michael (Nellie) Skoropeta of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Anne Skoropeta of Winnipeg, Betty Skoropeta of Portage la Prairie; cousin Anne Skoropeta of Crystal City; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Sophie lived numerous places such as Winkler, Beausejour, Crystal City, Mather, Teulon and Gimli. Sophie was a hard worker, working in Gimli Fisheries, cleaning at Gimli Airport duplexes and farming. Prayers will be said on Sunday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. also in the chapel, with Fr. Art Seaman officiating. Interment will follow at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery. Special thanks to the Lions Manor Staff of Winnipeg for all their tender care, kindness and prompt attention. Also thank you to daughter Dorothys close friends, who were so attentive. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli, in care of arrangements.
