She was born at Asham Point on April 18, 1910. She was the first child for Oli and Stina Olson and became a big sister for Violet, Kris, Karl and Kitchener. The family moved to Peonan Point where Bina grew up. In 1932, she married Ole Nord and they ranched on the Point where their daughter, Vera was born. Later, the Nords lived in Red Lake, ON for five years and their second daughter, Judy was born there. In 1950, they returned to the Point and had a son, Lorne. Bina and children stayed in Steep Rock for the winters so the children could go to school and the family would spend the summers together on the Point. Bina operated the telephone switchboard in her home in Steep Rock and kept the community in touch. After Oles death, Bina spent several years in Red Deer, AB. She moved to the Pioneer Manor in Ashern in 1996 where she lived until last year. She loved her family, music, gardening and nature as well as her many hobbies. She is dearly missed and will always be remembered by her children, Vera Nord and Judy (Rob) Schwartz; and her grandchildren, Ken Nord, Lorne and Laurie Schwartz. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Martha and Setta Olson; along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Lorne, in 1968 and her husband Ole, in 1977. She also suffered the loss of Violet and Simon Nord, Kris and Karl Olson, and Kitchener and Edith Olson. A service to honour Binas memory will be held Saturday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faulkner Community Hall with Pastor Bernie Rist officiating. Interment to follow in the Faulkner Cemetery. Viewing will be held prior to the service at the hall. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Ashern Personal Care Home, and the Home Care girls in the Pioneer Manor.
