MICHAEL KUNKO April 22, 1912 - April 21, 2004 Mike Kunko peacefully passed away the Morley House Personal Care Home in Shoal Lake, MB. Mike was predeceased by his wife Eva, in 1988. Born in Zavadiv, Ukraine, he and Eva went to France prior to The Second World War, in search of a better life, finally immigrating to Canada in 1951, settling in Menzie, MB, with son, John and daughters, Katherine and Marie. Mike was a faithful and long term employee of National Grain and latterly Cargill where his primary function was the building of grain elevators throughout western Canada. Taking great pride in his beautiful and bountiful garden, Mike enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbours. He was a pillar of strength in times of trouble and his memory will be cherished by son John (Marlene), their daughter, Laurie; daughter, Katherine (Peter) daughter Marie (Lynn), other family members in the Ukraine and all who knew him. Prayers will be at the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Oakburn, Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 24 at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Fr. Michael Tkachuk will officiate. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff of the Morley House Personal Care Home for their compassionate care of our father. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Morley House of Shoal Lake. Raes Funeral Service of Shoal Lake and Erickson are in care of the arrangements. (204) 759-2160.
