Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHAWN NEIL CLOSSON On April 23, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia, Shawn, with family, friends and all their love surrounding him, became an angel in heaven. Left to cherish his memory are Mom and Dad (Lynda and Glen) and his big sister Shannon. Further left to mourn are his grandfather Leslie Closson and Uncles and Aunts: Richard Closson; Shirley (Robert Ewonchuk) and children, Stacey, Ryan; Claudette (Jim Dewart) Ronald and children, Michael, Darrell and Steven; Noelle Closson; Laurie (Wayne Carr) and children, Wayne (Samantha), Kirk and Dean; Great Aunt Iona McKenzie. He also leaves behind Great Uncle Laurent and Aunt (Lea) Hebert; Great Aunt Beulah St. Pierre; Special Aunt and Uncle Sheila and Pat MacCoy and their family, Liz Miazga and Frank Friedrich; as well as numerous cousins and friends. Greeting Shawn at Heavens Gate are Grandma and Grandpa Whitlam, Grandma Closson and Auntie Agnes Closson. Born May 9, 1998, Shawn came into this world fighting and he never stopped. With courage, smiles and laughter Shawn taught us all "Yesterday is history, the future is a mystery, today is a gift, thats why its called the present." Shawn taught all who met and knew him -- how to enjoy the now. He showed us how to never stop trying, how to never quit and how to do it all with smiles and happiness. Shawn touched a very special spot in the heart of everyone he met. He taught us a lot about ourselves. Most of all he taught us about love. You can do anything if you have love and he shared his love willingly with everyone he knew. You can shed tears that he is gone or you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back or you can open your eyes and see how he enriched our lives. You can recall only that he is gone or you can cherish his memory and let it live on. You can dwell in your sorrow and emptiness or you can do as Shawn would wish: smile, love, and go on. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sara (Israels), Cathy, and all the staff and volunteers at CancerCare, and all the nurses and staff on CK5. Thank you to Amanda and Rochelle and all others at Community Respite Services. Thank you to the Rainbow Society. You made his dream come true. A celebration of Shawns life will be held at the Meadowood United Church, 1111 Dakota St., Winnipeg, MB on Wednesday, April 28 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place at 4:30 p.m. in St. Malo Parish Cemetery, St. Malo, MB. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Shawns memory to CancerCare Research, CancerCare playroom or CK5 at Childrens Hospital, Winnipeg, MB. Youre free to run and play all you want now. Well love and miss you always! LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
