VIOLA MAUD GATES (nee BUDGE) The family of Viola Gates are sorry to announce the passing of our mother and grandmother on Monday, April 19, 2004. Viola was born in the Siglunes Municipality on February 27, 1921. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1979; her parents, Henrietta and Peter; and brothers, Clifford and Norman. She is survived by her children, Brenda (Don) Vann, Bill Gates (Stella), Rhonda (Ed) Cook; four granddaughters, Alanna Gates, Katlyn, Taralyn and Jaclyn Cook; sisters, Mae Weibe, Margaret Nixon, Muriel Reevie, Joyce Reevie; sister-in-law Evelyn Budge; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Ashern, MB with Pastor Bernie Rist officiating. Interment to follow in the Ashern Municipal Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Ormiston, emergency room staff and Amanda and Cathy on the 2nd floor of Concordia Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any of Violas favourite charities; ALS Society, CancerCare Manitoba, Kidney Foundation, or to the Humane Society.
