ANTONINA SAMSON Peacefully following a brief illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Baba and Great-Grandmother, Antonina SAMSON (nee Leszkiewicz) at her residence at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her husband Konstantyn in 1981 and will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her two soncss Niholas (Audrey) and Walter (Gloria), her five grandchildren Walter (Krita), Debora (David), Wayne (Donna), Gary (Bridget) and Nicole (John). She also leaves behind four beautiful great grandchildren Joelle, Jared, Ethan and Edison whom she dearly cherished. Antonina was born in Olpien, Belarus on December 8th, 1918. She grew up in the Pinsk region where she married her husband Konstantyn and together with their children emigrated to Winnipeg in 1948. Over the next 30 years Antonina, while raising her family was employed at both Stella Produce and the Variety Supply & Bag Company until her retirement in the early 1980s. In her retirement she enjoyed her gardening, entertaining family, friends and neighbours, cooking for those who visited and the occasional visit to Assiniboine Downs to play the horses. Antonina will always be remembered for her unconditional generosity. She was one of those rare persons who in her own special way always put the needs of others before those of herself. She truly knew the importance of saving, sharing and above all giving. It would be hard to find someone with a larger Heart of Gold. Her kindness, sincerity, compassion, sense of humour, silent strength, independence, courage and devotion to family and friends were qualities she maintained until the end. Mom, Baba, though now there is emptiness and sorrow in our hearts you may rest in peace knowing that by touching all of us who knew you dear, your presence will not only live on in our memories but in our actions and in how we live our lives. Having you was our lottery win. You have not left this world alone for when God called you to his special home to be next to your departed husband, a part of us left this world with you. We would like to give special thanks to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service station #6 personnel that attended her residence and to the staff at the Health Science Centre. In lieu of Flowers, if friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2W-2L8 PH# (204) 582-4157. Prayers will be held Wed.
