ANNABELL MARIAN DENBY (PETERSON, nee JOHNSTON) August 19, 1931 - April 23, 2004 Annabell passed away peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Morris General Hospital. Annabell was born on August 19, 1931 near Stoughton, SK. On November 9, 1951 she married Ralph Peterson who died in 1957. On July 4, 1959 she married Joe Denby who died March 12, 1997. Annabell was predeceased by her parents, Jean and Johnnie Johnston, husband Ralph Peterson, husband Joe Denby, son David Peterson, daughters-in-law, Kathie Denby and Joanne Begley, brother Donald Johnston, and special niece Kimberly. Annabell is survived by her constant companion Murphy, her sons, Dennis (Connie) Denby, Bill Denby (Maura), Glen (Cheryl) Peterson, Larry (Gloria) Peterson; daughter-in-law Carol Peterson, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, Gary (Audrey) Johnston; sister Dot (Bill) Jonasson, nieces, nephews, and many good friends and relatives. Annabell was born during the depression and grew up to be a strong and determined woman. She led by example, always got things done, and displayed a strong will and independence all of her life. Annabell battled various cancers from 1965, showing that cancer can be lived with, beaten, and at other times ignored completely. We know that she will be pleased that cancer was not the cause of her demise. Annabell and the family would like to thank all of her friends in British Columbia and Manitoba for their compassion, support, fun times and love throughout the years. A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses who have cared for Mom over the years. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28 at the Morris United Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Another memorial service will be held at a later date in Invermere, BC along with interment.
