Dyck of Winkler, MB formerly of Winnipeg, passed away at the Salem Home, Winkler on Friday, April 23, 2004 at the age of 87 years. Jacob will be remembered and missed by his wife of 63 years, Mary Dyck (nee Friesen) six sons, Isaac "Larry" and Gloria, Carlton Place, ON, Jake and Vicky, Winnipeg, John and Henrietta, Cochrane, AB, Peter and Lynn, Langley, BC, Bill and Linda, Surrey, BC, George and Crystal, Surrey; two daughters, Johanna and Don Martin, Belgium, and Grace and Gerry Neustaedter, Calgary, AB; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his three sisters, Mary Klassen, Anne and Jake Friesen and Helen and Dave Wall. Jake was predeceased by his parents and six brothers. Jacob was born on December 24, 1916 at a farm in Osterwick, MB, south of Morden. He grew up in Blumenfeld, MB, and following his marriage to Mary Friesen in 1940, lived in Blumenfeld, Reinland, Edrans, Winnipeg and in Winkler since the mid 1980s. He spent most of his working career as a carpenter. A funeral service will be held at the Winkler EMM Church, 600 Southview Dr. on Wednesday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the Blumenfeld Cemetery, Blumenfeld. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salem Foundation, 165-15th Street, Winkler, MB R6W 1T8. The family would like to thank the staff at the Salem Home for their loving and patient care in recent months, and also the home care staff in Winkler who attended to him in recent years.
