Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE (MICKEY) ALEXANDER DANIEL McKAY On Wednesday, April 21, 2004, George (Mickey) McKay passed away peacefully at the Betel Home, Selkirk at the age of 86 years. Mickey was born on October 3, 1917 in Toronto. He lived most of his life in Winnipeg and served with the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Ancient Landmark No. 3. Upon his retirement from the Ford Motor Company in 1977, he made his home at Matlock Beach. He spent many happy years at his trailer in Mesa, AZ. Among his greatest pleasures were his family, golfing, snooker, five pin bowling, driving his truck and especially his first motorcycle at the age of 60. Mickey always had a smile on his face and loved to kibitz with everyone. He is survived by is wife Ruby; daughters, Carol (Tony) Schwartz, Shirley Quinn; son Brian (Lee) stepson Bill (Iris) Campbell; stepdaughter-in-law Donna Campbell; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mickey was predeceased by his first wife Alice in 1976 and stepson Gerald Campbell in 2003. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Masonic Memorial Temple, 420 Corydon Ave., Winnipeg. Many thanks to the nurses and staff of Betel Personal Care Home in Selkirk for the wonderful care given to Mickey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
