DOUGALD ALEXANDER SAVAGE September 18, 1918 - April 25, 2004 Doug passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, son of Alex and Sarah Savage. Born in Carstairs, AB, Doug joined the R.C.A.F. as an airframe mechanic with the 431 Squadron stationed in England returning in 1945. Doug married Elva Jean Johnston, his loving wife of 57 years, and they raised four sons, Robert (Barbara), Donald (Dianne), Allan and Rodney (Helen). He is also survived by grandchildren, Ryan (Corrin), Erin (Pat) Rey, Dayna Savage, Jaclyn (Mike) Mackenzie, Dean Kelly and Mark; and great-grandchildren, Tyson, Misty, and Madilyn Savage. Doug was predeceased by his brother Campbell. He is survived by his brother Kenneth (Frances) and sister-in-law Gerry, and numerous nieces and nephews and Gordon Reed. Doug was always a farmer, planting his first crop at the age of 12, only missing three years during his stay in England. Doug took great joy in his corn crops and his Hereford cattle. He spent a number of years as a 4-H leader, president of the Manitoba Hereford Association, named to the honour roll of the Canadian Hereford Association, was a director of the Red River Ex, honorary director of the Dufferin Agriculture Society, director of the Lundar Bull Sale, and a member of the Canadian Legion. Funeral service will be held from the Carman United Church in Carman on Wednesday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating. Interment will take place in the Elm Creek Cemetery.
