Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE SLATER Peacefully at her residence on Sunday, April 25, 2004 Rose Slater, our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away at age 76. Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Grant and Norman; daughter-in-law Joan; granddaughters, Emily and Catherine; sister-in-law Claire; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Dennis in 1997, by her brother Bill in 2000, and her sister Anne in 2002. Rose was born in Winnipeg on March 14, 1928, the third and youngest child of Mary and Nicholas Kinash. Her memory for detail was remarkable and her family delighted in hearing stories of growing up in north end Winnipeg. But the story she most often told was how she was courted by Dennis at the age of 16. From that time on there was no other man for Rose. They were married three years later and enjoyed a wonderful life until his passing after 49 years of marriage. Together they raised two sons of whom they were extremely proud. Dennis was a man of many projects and Rose was his constant helpmate whose capacity for hard work was astounding. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother as well as a capable homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, canning, "browsing" in stores, weekends at the cottage at Matlock, trips with sister Anne, and in later years, the more relaxed pace of genial conversation with a good friend over a hamburger and coffee. Rose was happiest when surrounded by family and she was especially fond of her two granddaughters who cherish the memories of many wonderful dinners at Grammys house. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roses memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, R3C 0S6 or the Kidney Foundation, 730 Taylor Ave., R3M 2K8. A celebration of Roses life will be held on Friday, April 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel. KLASSEN Funeral Chapel 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331
