JOWIE BOONE On Tuesday, April 27, 2004, unable to recover after major surgery, Jowie (Zoe) Laura Boone (nee Deneweth) passed away quietly at the age of 83. Left to cherish Jowies memory are her daughter, Mrs. Diane Forrest (Norm) and two sons and their wives, Frank Jr. and Joan and Roger and Alice, all of Winnipeg; a brother, two sisters, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ryan Barker (Kathy), Heather Barker (Dave), Karen, Brandon (Rachel) and Stacy Boone, Tannis Williams (J.T.), Janice Kavvadas (Spiros), Jodene and fiance Scott Reimer, Justin and Leslie Barker, Cayden Williams, Niko and Alexsi Kavvadas. Her dear husband, Frank Boone Sr. predeceased Jowie in 1981. Frank Sr. and Jowie married in 1938, were associated with Boone and Knockaert Dairies for 10 years and then they moved to 27 Hull Ave. in St. Vital where they and their children enjoyed many happy years. Jowie also worked over the years outside the home at several movie theatres; the Gaiety, Lyceum and lastly at the Garrick where she earned the nickname Bubbles because of her bubbly attitude and fun spirit. Both Frank and Jowie were lifetime members of the Belgian Club. Jowie was one of nine children born to Ernest and Martha Deneweth. Her remaining siblings, Germaine DeMeyer, Margaret DeMeyer and Jules Deneweth (Lise), survive her, and was predeceased by her brothers, George (Lukie), Albert (Rachel) and Joe (Elsie) and her sisters, Elsie Young (Gordie) and Mary Deneweth. In addition to those mentioned above, numerous family and friends mourn Jowie. Jowie lived the last seven years at Catherine Place, which she enjoyed very much, making many friends with the residents and staff alike. The family extends a big thank you to all those caring individuals who took such good care of her. Friends if they desire may donate in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place, interment and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 10:00 a.m. in Green Acres Memorial Chapel, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Road. (204) 222-3241.
