HUGH ROBERT (HUGHIE) GORNALL 1920 - 2004 Our brother and uncle Hughie passed away peacefully in our presence at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, AB on April 26, 2004 at the age of 84. Hughie was born in Winnipeg on February 15, 1920 and lived there all of his life, save for the last 14 months, when he moved to Calgary to be with his family. An avid golfer and curler, Hughie had a commendable and distinguished career with the Winnipeg Fire Department, retiring in 1985. During The Second World War, Hughie served in the R.C.A.F. His wonderful and unique sense of humour will be fondly remembered as will the "glass half-full" philosophy with which he lived his life in the face of physical challenges in his latter years. Hughie is survived by his sister Stella Gettle; nieces, Carolyn (Larry), Maureen and Janice (Al) his nephews, Bob (Marleen) and Ron (Linda) and their families, all of Calgary. So long for now, Hughie, we know youre with your mom and dad, auntie, and Florence and Johnnie and your many friends. Relatives and friends were invited to prayers and tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAYS Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Dr. S.W., Calgary) on Thursday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass was celebrated at St. Anthonys Catholic Church (5340 - 4th St. S.W. Calgary) on Friday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Eulogio S. Estaris, Presider.
