MARY HEPNER 1910 - 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Hepner, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on April 27, 2004 at Oakview Place in Winnipeg. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband John (1982) sons, John (1996), Bill (1997) daughter-in-law Susan (1998) and son-in-law George Sowa (2001). She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jane (Sterling) Smith of Winnipeg, Irene Sowa of Nanaimo, BC; sons, Tony (Monique) of Selkirk, Gordon (Kathy) of White Rock, BC, Tom (Mildred) of Brandon and Dan (Carol) of Winnipeg. Also missing mom will be her daughter-in-law Jackie Hepner of Winnipeg; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with her last surviving sibling, John Penner of Winnipeg. Mom could have been the inspiration for Mothers Day. She devoted her entire life to her husband and children. She epitomized all of the qualities that we associate with motherhood. She was loving, kind, patient and forgiving. Her family always came first; if food was scarce, she did without, if money was short, she got by with less. She stood by and supported her husband and children through thick and thin. When times were hard, and they often were, she would make whatever sacrifice was necessary for her family. Her gentle polite manner combined with an unwavering faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be missed. The family wishes to thank everyone at Oakview Place, in particular the second floor staff, especially Maureen, Eleanor and Leila for the wonderful care they provided our mother for the last five years. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8 at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB with Pastor Barber officiating. Interment at St. Clements cemetery and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Moms memory may be made to Oakview Place, 2395 Ness Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 1A5 or a charity of your choice.
