MARY KOWAL (BELSKI) August 19, 1916 - May 6, 2004 Peacefully with her daughters at her side, Mary Kowal passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2004. She was predeceased by her husband Fred. Mary leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory daughters, Joyce Limerick and husband Don, Lynne Spruston and husband Donald; her grandchildren, Heather (Robert Larabie), Karen (Michael Convery), Kerri (Mark Gilbert) and Susan; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jaime Convery; four sisters-in-law, Anne Kowal, Teena Bodner, Emma Kowal and Olga Belski; one brother-in-law John Kowal and wife Jean; and many nieces and nephews. Mary and her husband owned and operated their own grocery store "Collegiate Grocery" (across the street from Daniel McIntyre High School) for 35 years. We will always remember and cherish her sense of humour, hearty laugh, jokes, special perogies, crocheting and her kindness towards everyone. Mary was a longtime member of St. Josephat and St. Basil Ukrainian Churches. She was known to everyone as Baba and her guidance and support will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to special friends, Diane and Ted Keep for providing weekly transportation to the hairdresser, wonderful meals and many other generous gestures. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Basil the Great Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt Ave. with Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Kowal, Robert Kowal, Ken Kowal, Ken Boitson, Chris Beck and Jason Beck. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Marys memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
