Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORIE LAXDAL (nee DISSON) Marjorie, the second of five children, was born in Winnipeg June 25, 1914, to Lillian and William Disson. She grew up with her family at their home on Burnell Street and attended the local schools, including Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute, which two of her sons later attended. In December 1936, Marjorie married Sigurdur (Sam) Joseph Laxdal. They lived for a few years at Bissett, MB and Stony Mountain, MB, where Sam was a guard at the Penitentiary, before returning to Winnipeg when he joined the R.C.A.F. During their married life they also lived in Charleswood, on Bannerman Avenue, Ingersoll Street and Lanark Street, before moving to Victoria, BC, in 1967. Marjorie returned to Winnipeg in 1988 and lived at Central Park Lodge (now Poseidon Care Centre) until her death at the Centre, in her 90th year, on Saturday, April 24, 2004. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Lillian Disson, Grace Thompson and Isabel Sinclair; her brother William Disson and a grandson William Laxdal. She is survived by sons, Brian (Donna) of Mississauga, ON; Joe (Linda) of Yorkton, SK; Blair of Stoney Creek, ON; daughter Arlene (Pat) of Winnipeg; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Marjorie was a quiet, soft-spoken person who was an avid reader and bowler. In addition to the many years spent raising and caring for her family, Marjorie worked for Eatons in both Winnipeg and Victoria. Marjories ashes will be interred at a later date in Brookside Cemetery, with a private family memorial service. Her family would like to express its appreciation for the many years of care she received at the Poseidon Centre; in particular to the staff on the 4th and 5th floors who looked after her so well. Donations of remembrance may be made to the Canadian Hemophilia Society (Manitoba Chapter), 932 Erin St., R3G 2W5 or the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
