Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSINA MALCOLMSON On Friday, March 8, 2004, beloved mother and grandmother, Rosina Malcolmson peacefully passed away at Golden Links Lodge. Rosina is survived by her son Cameron and wife Colleen; grandchildren, Danny, Caitlin and Joshua. Rosina was born in London, England in 1910 and came to Canada at a young age. She attended Kelvin High School and enjoyed a successful career at the Great-West Life Assurance Company. She joined the R.C.A.F. and rose to the rank of Flight Lieutenant, being one of the first female commissioned officers. She served her country proudly during the Second World War and resumed her business career when peace was restored. She married Jack during the Flood of 1950, and enjoyed 47 years of happiness with him while residing in Carman, Gimli, Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg. She pursued her musical interests and artistic abilities by conducting several church choirs and painting many pictures while a member of the Forum Art Institute. When Jack retired in 1981 they enjoyed many happy summers at Sioux Narrows and Caddy Lake, with winter holidays in Texas. They had fond memories of their trip to Spain and cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska and the Panama Canal. When Jack died in 1997, Rosina became a resident of Golden Links Lodge where she enjoyed a happy life, being actively involved in the activities of her new home, and the lives of her caring nursing staff. She participated in the annual Remembrance Day Service and weekly worship services, treasuring visits from the caring members of the United Church in Meadowood and the Royal Canadian Legion. Rosina enjoyed many happy memories of family and friends. She adored her three grandchildren, attending their many choir and band concerts, dance recitals, and last summer one of Joshuas baseball games. Her greatest joy came from their many visits, and she never tired of their stories and accounts of school and activities. She was proud of their many accomplishments, keeping their current school photographs always in plain view in her room. Rosina was a grand, elegant lady who maintained her dignity to the end. All who knew her will lovingly remember her. A memorial service will be held at the United Church in Meadowood, 111 Dakota St., on Thursday, May 6, 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Linda Churchill officiating. Donations to Rosinas memory may be made to the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society.
