EMIL M. SUL 1927 - 2004 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Emil Sul of McCreary in the St. Rose General Hospital on Sunday, April 25, 2004 at the age of 76 years. Emil was born July 2nd, 1927 to Stephan Sul and Hattie (Babyk) Sul on his parents homestead in the Glen Hope District of McCreary, Manitoba. He grew up and went to school at Glen Hope School and took over operating the family farm. Emil was a happy person. He loved to sing and party. Whether working on the land or bringing in the cows in the evening, his singing would echo through the forest of spruce, pine and poplars the farm was nestled in. Farming was not profitable, so Emil struck off in the 1950s and became a heavy equipment operator on a road construction and winter freighting in the far north using caterpillar trains. He worked from British Columbia to northern Ontario and the Territories. This was his life until he retired. In the early 1970s he met Ollie McDonald and in 1975 they were married. They built a new home in McCreary in 1976. In about 1990 Emil retired. His wife, Ollie, died in 1992. Emil was also predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Hattie Sul; two brothers, Steve and John; four sisters, Sally Rogoski of Toronto, Ontario, Annie (June) Davey of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Mary Millan of McCreary, Manitoba, and Frances Grace of Long Beach, California. He leaves to mourn two stepsons, from Ollie, Ron and Chris McDonald and Grant McDonald of British Columbia; and three sisters, Katie Slipetz of Toronto, Sophie Sul of St. Albert (Edmonton) Alberta, and Eva Thompson of Amaranth, Manitoba. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Prayer Services were held on Wednesday, April 28, 200 7:30 p.m. funeral services were held on Thursday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. Both Services were held at Our Lady Of The Nativity Roman Catholic Church, McCreary, Manitoba.
