SHIRLEY OLIVE DABRUS It is with great sadness that family and friends announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of Shirley on April 26 while on vacation with good friends in California. Left with fond memories of her is her brother Chris, nephews, Simon and Toby of England, nieces and nephews, Trish and Rob, Kyle and Arlee of Winnipeg, Greg of Markham, Richard and Janet, Annalise and Caitlan of Toronto. Also her dear friends, Brenda and Andre Thibeault, Lynn Barthel, Theresa and Michael MacDonald, Al Flanagan, June and Pete Hollis (England) and Peter and Maria Ellis (England). Shirl was predeceased by her only son Douglas, husband Stan, mother Elsie and father Jim. Shirley raised her son in England and took pride in her nursing career. She returned home on many occassions to visit and care for family and friends. Shirley immigrated to Winnipeg in 1980 to marry Stan. She continued her nursing career, caring for the elderly until her retirement in 1994. Shirl was like an English garden. A joy to be around, vibrant, always there and weathered the seasons of her life with grace. She enjoyed her many opportunities to travel which brought her closer to friends and new places. Shirl will always be remembered for her kind heart, understanding and giving people the gift of her time. Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with the Rev. R.S. Condo officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. THOMSON Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
