ELSIE GEORGINA OLSON (nee FETHERS) Peacefully, on Sunday, May 2, 2004, Elsie Olson passed away at the age of 82 at the Grace Hospital with her family at her side. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Alex, her mother and father and sister-in-law Vida. Her memory will be forever cherished by her children, Barb (Jim), Eileen, Peter (Tracy), Marilyn and Warren; her eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; her brother Earl; and sister-in-law Lily Kunzelman. Mom was born September 1921 in Arron, SK to George and Alice Fethers, later moving to Sandridge, MB, where she grew up. Mom and Dad were married in 1943 while Dad was serving in the RCAF. Shortly after they purchased the Pepin farm north of Inwood, where they raised their children. Her passion for the community was exemplified by her active roll in the Womens Auxiliary and her leadership in 4H. Her commitment to her husband and family was evident to everyone who witnessed her devotion and love as she gave tirelessly of herself in every endeavour as a farm wife and mother. Her happiest times were spent creating at the sewing machine. She loved to look her finest. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with her friends, and most of all caring for her family. In 1968, Mom and Dad left the farm with their family and moved to Muriel Street in Winnipeg. She was an active member of the Ladies Group of the Parish at St. Chads Church. Alex and Elsie used this new freedom to travel North America extensively. Mom enjoyed her trip to England with her mother to meet her fathers family in 1974. In the fall of 2000, Mom and Dad moved to Kiwanis Courts, where mom enjoyed the community life there. Thanks to you all, especially Isabel, Yvonne, and many others. Mom spent the last two months at Oakview Extendicare Home and received excellent care there as well. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m. at he Assiniboine Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Ave. with Visitation starting at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Cheryl Vermette, Colin Ferguson, Jonathan and Jason Mushaluk, Rebecca and her husband Steven Wilkens. Flowers are gratefully declined, donations may be made in Elsies memory to the Arthritis Society. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
