MURRAY GEORGE ORMISTON After a lengthy illness, Murray passed away peacefully on May 1, 2004 with his family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 60 years, Gloria; and his three daughters, Barbara Bader, Susan Suderman (Don) and Marlene Catellier (Luc). Also by his grandchildren, Gary, Heather and Sharon Bader, Christy and Karen Suderman, Chris (Tanis), Clayton (Laura) Catellier; and great-grandchildren, Cole Bader and Taylor Catellier. Murray will be sadly missed by his brother Roy; and sisters, Isobel Law (San Diego, CA) and Doreen Finegan (Etobicoke, ON) and many nieces and nephews. Murray was predeceased by his father Douglas Cole (1971) and his mother Ellen Jane (1990). Murray was born in Tantallon, SK on November 12, 1921 and moved to Winnipeg shortly after. After 41 years of driving for Greyhound of Canada (2.5 million miles), he retired in 1986. Through his years with Greyhound, Murray achieved recognition from the company as well as having been Top Driver in the Manitoba Division. He also received an award for 36 years of safe driving. He served as Shop Steward and Executive Board Member for the Sub Local. After his retirement, he enjoyed 15 years working at Murray Chev Olds until his illness in March 2003. He was a very proud, supportive and involved grandfather who eagerly attended numerous sporting events and other activities. He was a true role model in their lives and will be sadly missed by his loving grandchildren. He was a symbol of encouragement and an inspiring example of integrity and honesty. We loved him dearly. Murray will be remembered by so many whose lives he touched with his gentle warmth and kindness. Our heartfelt thanks go to Dr. R. Hayward and to all the staff in the ICU and Unit 5 at the Victoria General Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. Cremation has taken place, and at Murrays request a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation Fund, 2340 Pembina Hwy., R3T 2E8 or a charity of choice.
